1. Appointments & Booking Policy
1.1 All grooming appointments must be pre-booked.
1.2 Customers must ensure they are available and the dog is present, clean (within reason), and ready at the time of booking.
1.3 A one-hour arrival window is required either side of your appointment (e.g. for a 12:00pm appointment, we may arrive between 11:00am and 1:00pm).
---
2. Deposits, Cancellations & No-Shows
2.1 A £25 deposit is required to secure each booking. This is non-refundable if less than 24 hours’ notice is given.
2.2 Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid full charges.
2.3 Cancellations within 24 hours or failure to attend will result in the full grooming fee being charged.
2.4 If we arrive and are unable to groom your dog due to aggression, behaviour, fleas or other issues not previously disclosed, the full amount will still be payable.
---
3. Arrival Time, Parking & Access
3.1 Customers must ensure there is clear access to the property and that dogs are ready for collection upon our arrival.
3.2 We require a safe, flat, and accessible area to park our grooming van — this space must not be on a steep slope.
3.3 The parking spot must be located within 20 metres of your property so we can safely run a power cable for our equipment.
3.4 If we arrive and are unable to park or connect to power due to space or distance limitations, we will be unable to proceed with the appointment, and a full cancellation fee will apply as stated in section 2.
3.5 It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure parking and power access are arranged in advance of the appointment.
---
4. Dog Behaviour & Aggression
4.1 We do our best to accommodate all dogs, including those with behavioural challenges.
4.2 If a dog is found to be excessively aggressive, we reserve the right to cease the grooming session immediately.
4.3 The full grooming fee will still be payable even if the session is stopped due to aggression or extreme behavioural issues.
4.4 Owners must disclose any known behavioural issues prior to the appointment.
---
5. Health & Medical Disclosure
5.1 All known medical conditions must be disclosed before grooming.
5.2 This includes (but is not limited to): skin conditions, epilepsy, heart issues, joint problems, or allergies.
5.3 We will not be held responsible for any injury or issue arising from a pre-existing medical condition not disclosed before the groom.
---
6. Coat Condition, Matting & Shaving
6.1 If a dog’s coat is severely matted, we may be required to clip or shave the coat down to avoid causing pain or injury.
6.2 We will always discuss this with the owner prior to taking action.
6.3 We do not accept responsibility for any skin irritation or issues caused by matting or clip-downs required due to neglect.
---
7. Fleas & Ticks
7.1 If fleas or ticks are discovered, the dog will be immediately returned, and the appointment charged in full.
7.2 Owners must not knowingly bring dogs with active flea or tick infestations.
7.3 We recommend routine flea and tick treatment before appointments.
---
8. Pricing & Payment
8.1 Grooming prices are mostly fixed and based on dog breed, size, and coat type.
8.2 However, prices may vary slightly for matted or neglected coats requiring extra time or effort.
8.3 All balances must be paid in full on completion of the appointment, either by cash or card (unless arranged otherwise in advance).
8.4 Deposits are taken off the final balance.
---
9. Teeth Cleaning Terms
9.1 Teeth cleaning is carried out using the EmmiPet 2.0 ultrasonic toothbrush, a non-invasive, noise-free device designed to remove plaque and tartar gently.
9.2 An initial consultation is required at a cost of £75, which includes a full dental assessment, a deep clean, and a personalised dental plan.
9.3 Follow-up maintenance cleans are recommended every 12 weeks or sooner, depending on the dog’s oral condition.
9.4 The service is not a veterinary replacement and is only suitable for dogs with healthy gums or minor plaque.
9.5 Customers must sign a separate consent form prior to the first session.
9.6 We reserve the right to refuse treatment if a dog is found to have advanced gum disease or if they are distressed during cleaning.
---
10. Photography & Media
10.1 During or after your dog’s groom, we may take photographs or videos for use on our website, social media, or marketing materials.
10.2 If you do not want your dog to be photographed, you must inform us before the grooming session begins.
---
11. Liability
11.1 All grooming is undertaken with the utmost care and professionalism.
11.2 We will not be held liable for any injuries, allergic reactions, illness, or stress that may occur during or after grooming where due care has been taken.
11.3 Owners accept that grooming carries an inherent risk, particularly for elderly, nervous, or medically-compromised dogs.
---
12. Insurance
12.1 Bark and Bliss is fully insured with professional grooming and public liability insurance, covering all aspects of mobile dog grooming services.
---
13. Data Protection
13.1 All client details are kept secure and confidential in accordance with UK GDPR guidelines.
13.2 Your personal information will only be used for managing bookings, service records, and relevant communications.
13.3 We will never share your data with third parties without your consent.
